"A shaman is one who is adept at consciously
moving between the planes of existence at will and for a specific
purpose." ~ Mircea Eliade
Shamanism
Our
times call for, and indeed require, that we transform non-beneficial
conditions so that we can move toward healthy, sustainable,
peaceful, positive conditions -- both for ourselves as individuals
and as a collective, interdependent Whole. Shamanism can help us do
this.
There is evidence that shamanism has been in practice
for at least 30,000 years, on every inhabited continent.
Throughout the world, shamanism has a wide range of beliefs and
practices. In general, shamanistic cultures believe that
humans are part of the totality of nature and recognize the
inter-dependence of humans with each other and with our planetary
environment.
Native peoples also recognize our connection
with other beings in the universe, those whom we call
extra-terrestrials or Star People. In fact, many native
peoples around the world believe that their ancestors go back
thousands of years, with ancient stories indicating a long
relationship with Star Beings in the universe. These beliefs
are outpictured culturally in their stories, art, dances and
ceremonies.
No matter the various forms of shamanism
throughout the world, there are commonalities among those who become
a shaman for the tribe. All shamans are adept at consciously
moving between the planes of existence at will and for a specific
purpose. Shamans act as intermediaries on behalf
of their culture by purposefully interacting and communicating
with other realms of existence, with some shamans being more adept
than others.
|
As intermediaries between humans and the
non-ordinary world --the Unseen realms-- a
shaman always uses their compassion and abilities to
assist others. It is not about sorcery or having power
over others. Shamanic skills are used strictly for
healing and to obtain
information.
|
In some cultures, a shaman is produced through
vision quests, and in other cultures a shaman experiences initiation
through a personal shamanistic
inititation, which may be an extreme psycho-spiritual or
physical crisis, normally
involuntary.
Many variations
and forms of shamanic practice have been created. It's not limited
to being a Native American or an Aborigine. I'm not Native American; I am of Irish Celtic extraction and,
perhaps, that genetically influences my shamanic gifts. What I do know is that I was
born with the sensitivities, goals and abilities of a shaman and
have experienced the extreme
initiations.
One of
the shamanistic tools generally available to most
people is the ability to enter other dimensions via "Shamanic
Journeying." I am pleased to include shamanic
journeying in my personal "Divine Toolbox," because it gives me
an additional way to access non-ordinary reality -- beyond time
and space. It's as easy and
natural for me as breathing ... and has been all my life.
It offers another way to heal, problem solve, and explore,
which I do for myself and for my clients.
|
Through shamanic journeying, you
too, as an individual, can use this powerful
method to access support, wisdom, healing, problem solving and
to connect with
nature.
|
One
requirement for a shamanic journey is to change your brain
waves and shift into an altered state of consciousness. There are many ways to do
that, most commonly through a percussive drumbeat. Brainwaves synchronize with
the tempo of the drumbeats. At 4 beats per second, your brainwave
state shifts into the Theta state helpful to
accessing non-ordinary reality. To
help you achieve a Theta state so that you can
begin doing personal shamanic journeys, I created a
shamanic drumming audio CD, drumming at 4 beats per second. The CD is titled:
"SHAMANIC DRUMMING ~ PORTAL INTO KNOWING.

Shamanic Soul
Retrieval
Soul
retrieval is a shamanic approach to healing. In native traditions of shamanism,
illness is an indication that the soul has vacated the body. To correct the situation,
the shaman journeys into alternate dimensions of reality to retrieve
the soul and return it to the sick person, restoring wholeness and
health. This method can
also be employed in the field of psychological health. Splitting off of part of the
"soul," the essential essence of a person, can occur during
perceived traumatic situations, ranging from minor to severe, from
the womb forward or backward in time. Retrieving the lost part of
the soul essence of the self can be an important step to
returning you to psychological and spiritual wholeness,
clarity, and strength -- your divine True
Nature.
Nearly everyone who has suffered trauma has some
form and degree of soul fragmentation or loss. A person may have the
experience of feeling dissociated, ungrounded, disconnected, of
feeling like they are not in their body. The senses may seem muffled,
a person may sleep a lot or feel apathetic toward life. They may feel like they are
"not all there," "not at home," as if something is "missing." There can be a feeling of
emptiness, of having no heart, of having an empty tube or a big hole
inside. People may try
to escape these feelings by isolating, addictions, projecting
negativity onto others, denial, depression or creating distracting
life dramas.
Physical traumas which lead to loss of essence
can include any bodily intrusion with a real or imagined threat to
survival (such as surgeries, organ donation and transplants,
amputations of limbs, etc.), beatings or damage to any part of the
physical body, and vehicular accidents. Any sexual abuse such as
rape or incest usually causes fragmentation. Severe fragmentation with
intense emotional residue can develop in military combat
situations. Self abuse
through drugs and alcohol can cause soul loss, as will cult abuse,
satanic and ritual abuse.
Sometimes a person will willingly
give part of themselves away out of a sense of responsibility or
duty, or in order to get love from another person, as a child
might do to receive love from a parent. Also, someone may send part
of themselves to another person in order to build and maintain a
connection or out of loneliness or grief at being separated. This can be related to
co-dependence in relationships.
Soul theft can occur
when part of the soul essence has been stolen by another person or
being. Loss of soul
essence can occur in a child's psychic battle with an unhealthy
parent, and it can be generational in families. In relationships, theft of
the soul essence of another person is an attempt to create a sense
of personal power and esteem.
The "thief" is trying to cover up feelings of inadequacy and
powerlessness by taking someone else's essence, energy, and vitality
to use for themselves.
As a Shamanic Practitioner, I
interdimensionally journey to wherever the missing Soul
Part/Essence is located. Guided and aided by Spirit Helpers, I
do whatever is necessary to retrieve the lost part and return it
back "home" to you. Everything is done with my
intention for the highest, divine good for all concerned.
The goal in Shamanic Soul Retrieval is to fill you up
with your own self so that you have the stability, energy and
clarity necessary to move forward in life in a creative, healthy,
happy, grounded way with increased wholeness and self
love. Discover the Divine Self.
